LoneStar Joins The Woolly Revolution
On the 12thDecember 2014 employees of LoneStar Fasteners Europe and LoneStar Leeds took part in National Christmas Jumper Day.
This fundraising event was introduced to the UK by the national charity Save the Children three years ago. Since then, the charity has seen some great success over the years with ample donations from this event alone. The concept is simple; wear a festive jumper and donate £2.
Many staff swapped their usual work attire for a Christmas jumper and some even teamed it with a Santa hat and tinsel! We are pleased to say that events like these really boosts employee morale and it’s amazing to see everyone so keen to take part.
The main objective, of course, is to raise money for the Save the Children charity. Save the Children is a global charity saving the lives of many children around the world by providing them with life-saving medicines, shelter and general support to ensure they lead happier, healthier lives. Save the Children also support many countries that are unfortunate to experience natural disasters such as when the most recent Tsunami hit the Philippines, the charity was there to support Children and their families.
Another great aspect of this event was that the UK Government matched every pound raised; meaning that 2014 was Save the Children’s biggest year yet and they raised more than £2.4 million.
LoneStar Fasteners Europe and LoneStar Leeds’ donations combined came to a total of more than £300. With the governments backing, the total donated to Save the Children was over £600.
As a little thank you to our staff, we also ran a competition for the best and worst Christmas Jumpers by giving away a bottle of the winner’s favourite Christmas tipple.
